What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a physical therapy that supports and strengthens the body’s ability to balance itself.

It has its roots in Chinese philosophies and medicine, but the therapy itself developed in Japan.

Shiatsu literally means finger pressure. Shiatsu touch usually involves pressure applied by thumbs, palms, rotations and movement and stretches.  The aim is to produce a deep awareness of yourself in which body and mind find wellbeing.
